Daniel 7 is key to understanding the times we are in right now. Without this chapter, Revelation 13 becomes harder to understand. We are rapidly approaching the second coming of Jesus, and Daniel’s vision gives us insight into events leading up to the Return of Jesus.
In part two of the Daniel 7 series, we learned the identity of the first two beasts. It turns out the lion and bear actually represent 3 nations.
Now let’s continue our in-depth study of Daniel chapter 7 by examining the leopard with four heads and four wings of a fowl.
The Leopard With Four Heads
After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. Daniel 7:6
The leopard, like the ten horned beast, is more challenging to decipher. There are a couple of solid theories as to the identity of this beast that we will examine below.
Possibility # 1: The leopard represents Germany
Germany’s national animal is actually the federal eagle. However, they are well known for their tanks that are called the leopard.
Germany has also had 4 prominent rises to power:
- The Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation (also known as the Holy Roman Empire)
- The German Empire under Otto Von Bismarck
- The Infamous 3rd Reich of Adolph Hitler
- The European Union
This matches up nicely with the four heads of the leopard.
Notice how the leopard also has four wings of a fowl. There is one prominent country near Germany that has the fowl as it’s national animal: France.
So what ties Germany and France together?
They were two of six nations that that signed the European Coal and Steel Community, which laid the foundation for the European Union as we know it today.
In Revelation 13, the leopard represents the body of the one word government. So, could the European Union, led by Germany and France, be the driving force of one world government? It appears this could very well be the case.
Daniel 7 does say that dominion is given to this beast. So, we can expect to see Germany and the European Union to rise up to superpower status once again if this is truly the leopard.
Possibility # 2: A Middle Eastern Alliance
It’s quite possible that the alliance the leopard represents hasn’t taken shape yet. Could the leopard represent an alliance of Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran, along with four other nations?
I think this is a very feasible possibility, and here’s why…
Three of these countries have the Euphrates River running through them. Why is that important? Just take a look at Revelation 9:13-16:
Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”
So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.
Thee countries will be where the next great war will begin, which will lead to one third of the world’s population being killed.
It’s likely Iran and four other Islamic countries would join forces with Turkey, Iraq, and Syria to wage war. They could very well produce the 200,000,000 man army described in Revelation 9.
The Islamic countries are already working towards creating a Global Islamic Union through the International Islamic Union Congress.
According to ProphecyNewsWatch.com,
in one of these meetings, Tanrıverdi and other prominent supporters of Erdoğan promoted the creation of a common Muslim economic market.
Participants declared their aim to create an Islamic "superpower of the future on Islamic lands owned by 60 Islamic countries, inhabited by 1,6 billion Muslims, on 19 million km2," constituting "55.5% of world oil reserves and 45.6% of its production, 64.1% of natural gas reserves, and 33% of its production."
So, What Superpower Will Emerge As The Leopard?
Will it be the EU, led by Germany and France, to become the Fourth Reich? Could it be an Islamic Union that will become a superpower? Or could it be a third possibility that is yet to emerge onto the world scene?
One thing is for sure: We will soon find out because the prophesied time of the Daniel 7 nations is quickly approaching.
And Jesus let us know that “this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
We are that last generation, so be ready to see these prophetic events unfold right before our eyes.
