What does God say about me

Have you ever pondered on the following questions: What does God say about me? What does God think about me?

Too often I find myself thinking negatively about my shortcomings, like being forgetful or being easily distracted. It’s easy to be critical of yourself because you know better than anyone else your weaknesses and flaws.

And while it may be alright to self assess and create plans to improve, too often we simply stop at just being self critical.

Unfortunately, self criticism leads to worse problems like anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and other psychological problems. According to a recent study by the UAB, nearly 40% of the US suffers from depression and anxiety.

It’s a very sad statistic to think about. Too many people are going through life thinking they aren’t good enough, are failures, or are insignificant. If that’s you, I want you to know that’s a lie from the devil.

Yes, life can hurl huge difficulties at us, and it may seem nearly impossible to deal with all of it, but that doesn’t make you worthless, it makes you human.

Stop viewing yourself as a failure and view yourself how God sees you. If you’re wondering what God thinks about you, allow me to show you exactly how He views you according to the Bible.

What Does God Say About Me?

You were wonderfully made (Ps 139:14, Eph 2:10, Gen 1:27)

You’re extremely valuable (Matt 6:26, Luke 12:7, Ps 139:1-4)

You’re continually on His mind (Jer 29:11, Ps 139:17-18)

He never leaves your side (Josh 1:9, Matt 28:20)

You were created for a purpose (Jer 1:5, Eph 1:11)

You’re royalty and heirs (1 Pet 2:9, Gal 3:26, Gal 4:7)

He deeply cares about your wellbeing (1 Pet 5:6-7, Matt 6:25-26)

God loves you more very much (John 3:16, Isa 43:4, Rom 5:8, John 15:13)

He has a precious gift for you (Acts 2:38, Eph 1:7)

Scriptures About What God Says About You

You Were Wonderfully Made

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Psalm 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

God created you in his own image. Think about that for a minute. God thought so highly of you and me that He created us to be like him. In other words, God instilled in each of us His characteristics. We were the only creation that He called “very good” (Gen 1:31).

God has created many wondrous and awesome things that we admire on a daily basis, like the moon, stars, and nature. Even though all of that is amazing, God considers you and me as His greatest creation. Let that sink in for a moment.

David, in Psalm 139:14, gave praise to the Lord because he understood that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. If we use the Hebrew definitions for the words “fearfully” and “wonderfully”, we can translate that verse to read: “I am reverently and uniquely made.”

In Ephesians 2:10, Paul builds on this by calling us “His workmanship”. We are the only beings that Jesus refers to as His workmanship.

I truly believe when we self criticize or view ourselves as not good enough, we are putting down the very thing God called His best work.

God Says You Are Extremely Valuable

What does God say about me

Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Luke 12:7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 139:1-4 O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.

You may feel worthless, but I guarantee you that God thinks you are extremely valuable. He not only thinks of you as His best creation, He willingly came down to earth as a human to give His life for you.

Both Matthew 6:26 and Luke 12:7 give you insight into just how valuable we are to Jesus. If he is willing to make sure sparrows and birds are well taken care of, then how much more will he make sure you’re provided for.

Look at Psalm 139:1-4. David perfectly captures just how much God values us. God knows everything there is to know about you. God is fully acquainted with your strengths, weaknesses, victories, and shortcomings. And regardless of how you feel about yourself, God thinks you are valuable enough to know inside and out.

He Thinks About You Constantly

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 139:17-18 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

The great God of the universe, who created everything with intricate detail, loves to do one thing more than anything else. He loves to think about you.

How many people do you know that constantly think about you?

Most likely that group of people can be counted on one hand. However, their thoughts for you pale in comparison to how often God thinks about you.

Let’s revisit Psalm 139 and read verses 17 and 18. David describes just how much God thinks about us: more than the sum total of grains of sand on planet Earth. If you were to visit one beach, it would take a lifetime to count the grains of sand just at that one location.

That gives you an idea of just how much the God of Heaven and Earth thinks about us. It begs the question: what does God think about me?

Jeremiah 29:11 gives us a great answer to that very question: God has thoughts of peace, hope, and a great future for us. He doesn’t have those thoughts just for humankind as a whole. He has those thoughts for you and me.

Say to yourself: “God thinks amazing thoughts about me!”

He Is Always With You

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Jesus doesn’t just think about you constantly and find you extremely valuable, He is right by your side every hour of every day.

David couldn’t have said it better: “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” Psalm 139:7

Whether you're on a mountain top or struggling through a valley, Jesus is with you every step of the way.

Joshua 1:9 and Matthew 28:20 are two of my favorite scriptures. God is with you no matter what, which means you don’t have to be afraid or worried about any of the challenging situations you may be facing.

God Says You Are Created For A Purpose

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you

Ephesians 1:11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.

When God created you, he didn’t make a mistake. He knew you before you were ever formed in your mother’s womb. Before your parents even knew you, God knew you and already had an amazing plan laid out for your life.

Just like your earthly parents, your heavenly father wants you to be successful and follow the plan he has for you. A plan that is full of peace and hope, not chaos, distress, or fear.

God Has A Purpose For You

You aren’t what this world says you are: worthless, not good enough, no future, and a loss cause. I want to encourage you to embrace this fact: you are who God says you are.

God Says You Are Royalty And Heirs

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

And if you are wondering “Who does God say I am?” Then you need to read the three scriptures above.

If you have the spirit of Jesus dwelling in you, the Holy Ghost, then He considers you to be chosen, royalty, His children, and heirs. God thinks of you as his family and royalty. You’re definitely not a loser no one cares about. Think for a moment what that really means…

It means you have access to the great God of the universe at any moment (Eph 2:18, Eph 3:12, Rom 5:2). Not only that, but you can ask anything in His name, and he will answer (John 14:13-14).

If you’ve never received the infilling of the Holy Ghost, then you need to read to the end. You’ll discover exactly how to receive this awesome gift from God.

He Will Take Care Of You

1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Matthew 6:25-26 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

We are facing an economic situation in this country that is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. To make things worse, our food chain is falling apart. Things are looking pretty bad and it’s very easy to feel hopeless.

Even with everything looking bleak, you don’t have to stress out. Jesus said in Matthew 6 that He will take care of your basic needs. I’m not saying you should just sit at home and expect God to deliver groceries to your door every day. I am saying He will take care of you no matter what.

He cares so much for you that He won’t let you go hungry or unclothed. As long as you seek after Him and put your worries in His hands, Jesus will take care of your every need.

Don’t let the devil put the thought in your head that no one cares about you. God cares about your every need and will take care of you. You just need to trust His word.

He Loves You Very Much

The Love of God

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Isaiah 43:4 Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you;

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

Want to know what God says about you the most? “I Love You!”

Jesus doesn’t just care about you, He loves you with everything within Him. God loved you so much that He became a human in order to die for your salvation.

“Jesus loves you” isn’t just some cute slogan that gets printed on t-shirts. He laid down His life so you could have the opportunity to be saved. Who else do you know would willfully lay their own life down for you? God’s love runs deep for you, and it’s not something to take lightly.

You may feel like no one else loves you or you’re unlovable, but God loves you more than words can express.

Let the scriptures on God’s love really sink in. I know it’s easy to glaze over them because you may have heard this over and over again. But don’t let the familiarity of God’s love diminish its power.

The love of God is matchless, incomprehensible, and available for you right now.

He Has A Special Gift For You

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Jesus has a very special gift for you, and it’s truly one of the greatest things you will ever experience: the infilling of the Holy Ghost. That is God’s spirit living inside of you.

It’s God’s spirit within you that gives you power to resist the devil, cast out demons, see the sick healed, and so much more. I encourage you to read this more in depth study of the infilling of the Holy Ghost to discover even more: Are You Rapture Ready?

According to Acts 2:38, all you have to do is repent of your sins, get baptized in the name of Jesus, and you will receive God’s promise of His spirit living inside of you. It’s really that simple, so don’t miss out on what God has for you.

Focus On What God Says About You

Read all 23 scriptures provided above and let God’s word speak to you about who you are. You aren’t a waste of space or a lost cause. Jesus loves you, thinks about you constantly, and has a great purpose for your life.

In Genesis 35, Rachel named her new born son Ben-Oni as she was dying, which means son of my sorrow. Imagine going through life with a name like that.

However, Jacob renamed the boy Benjamin, which means son of my right hand.

The people around you, your friends, and your family may think of you as a failure. But what does God, your heavenly father, say about you?

The world may call you forgotten, but Jesus calls you loved, full of purpose, and part of His family.

So, if you are wondering:

What does God think about me? or What does God say about me in his Word?

Then allow me to sum it up for you:

Jesus thinks about you all the time, deeply cares about you, considers you to be very valuable, never leaves your side, calls you His heir, has a purpose for your life, loves you very much, and has an amazing gift just for you: His spirit residing within you.
